Youth Theater Happenings

YOUTH THEATRE CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
Spring Registration Deadline April 15
Sign-ups for theatre classes are now open! Spring Classes include Creative Drama (Ages 6-8), Acting II (Ages 9-12), and Acting for Teens (Ages 13-18). Meeting times vary depending on classes. For details about each class including dates, meeting times, prices, and what is covered in the classes, please visit the Youth Theatre website.


A LITTLE PRINCESS

The classic heartwarming story of the real magic made by a loving heart. When Sara Crewe’s father is made bankrupt, Sara is reduced from enormous wealth to terrible poverty. At Miss Minchin’s school, where she had been a privileged student, she is now forced to work as a servant. But Sara has a loving heart and a quick imagination, and she knows that with the right spirit she can remain a princess inside.
For ages five and up.

Ten-year-old Annemarie Johansen and her best friend Ellen Rosen often think about life before the war. But it's now 1943 and their life in Copenhagen is filled with food shortages and Nazi soldiers marching in their town. Both girls try to maintain normal lives under Nazi occupation, but after it’s announced that the Jews of Denmark are being “relocated,” Ellen moves in with the Johansens and pretends to be part of the family. Annemarie is then asked to go on a dangerous mission, and somehow must find the strength and courage to save her best friend's life.
For ages 13 and up. Parental guidance and attendance is recommended.

BY THE GREAT HORNED SPOON

Part of the Imagination Celebration, the Youth Theatre's TheatreReach will be doing a special performance of By the Great Horned Spoon. The year is 1849 and the California Gold Rush is on! Together with his fearless butler, Praiseworthy, young Jack Flagg sets out to save his Aunt Arabella's fortune. On a ship bound from Boston to the California gold fields, they stow away, and the wild, swashbuckling adventures begin.

YOUTH THEATRE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT, AUCTION, AND DINNER
May 29, 2009 at 1pm
Tijeras Creek Golf Club, Rancho Santa Margarita

Tee off for Youth Theatre! The 9th Annual Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre Charity Golf Tournament, Auction, and Dinner has been announced for Friday, May 29, 2009. After a day on the green, dinner and entertainment will be provided by members of the Youth Theatre Program.
